Flying Orlando → Barcelona at the front of the plane
Few pairings reward flying at the front of the plane like Orlando to Barcelona. Departing from Orlando International Airport (MCO), you trade a long economy night for a suite, a proper meal, and arrival at Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) actually rested.
The absence of a nonstop First Class product here is an opportunity in disguise: a one-stop on British Airways, Air France, SWISS and Lufthansa adds a world-class lounge visit mid-journey and frequently prices better than direct premium alternatives.
Orlando's lounge scene serves its leisure mission — airline club lounges and strong contract facilities in the new Terminal C — but there is no flagship First Class lounge. The memorable ground experiences begin at the gateway: American's Flagship complex in Miami or the Emirates and Chelsea Lounges at JFK, both an easy hop from MCO.
Late April through June and September through mid-October are the sweet spots — beach weather without the August crush, when cruise crowds and heat peak together. Mobile World Congress in early March empties the luxury hotel market overnight, so check the calendar. Winter is mild, uncrowded, and remarkably good value; the Gaudí sites without lines are a different experience entirely.
