Inside the SWISS First Class experience
SWISS builds its First Class the way Switzerland builds watches: quietly, exactly, without a wasted gesture. The 777-300ER cabin seats just eight, in wide armchairs with ottoman seating for a dining companion, full-length wardrobes, and a two-meter bed made up with proper duvets. On the A330, a four-seat cabin feels almost semi-private. Nothing glitters unnecessarily; everything works. It is the choice of travelers who find Gulf-carrier opulence exhausting.
The new A350-900s introduce SWISS Senses, the airline's first-ever suites with closing doors — including a First Class suite with a wide bed and a companion configuration — rolling across the fleet through the late 2020s. The design language stays Alpine: pale woods, wool textures, grays and creams borrowed from the Engadin in winter. Dining leans deliberately local through the SWISS Taste of Switzerland program, which rotates menus from the country's Michelin-starred kitchens, canton by canton, alongside Balik salmon and caviar.
Zurich is the quiet weapon. First Class passengers use a dedicated check-in area, private security, and a lounge with an à la carte restaurant, whisky bar, and outdoor terrace overlooking the runways — then get driven to the aircraft by limousine. Few travelers realize a ground experience this complete exists outside Frankfurt.
Cabin highlights
- Eight-seat 777 cabin
- Wide armchairs with companion ottomans, two-meter beds with real duvets, and a cabin small enough that crew learn every preference by name.
- SWISS Senses A350 suites
- The airline's first doors in First Class: enclosed suites with wide beds and warm Alpine materials, rolling out across the new A350 fleet.
- Taste of Switzerland dining
- Rotating menus from Switzerland's Michelin-starred chefs, canton by canton, alongside Balik salmon, caviar, and an elegant Swiss wine list.
- Genuine privacy without theater
- High shells, full wardrobes, and generous spacing deliver seclusion through design restraint rather than gold trim and gimmicks.
- Limousine boarding in Zurich
- First passengers in Zurich are driven directly to the aircraft after private check-in and security — a terminal experience few airlines match.
On the ground
Zurich's First Class ground product is exceptional: a dedicated check-in pavilion, private security screening, and the SWISS First Lounge with an à la carte restaurant, extensive whisky bar, hotel-style day rooms, and a terrace above the apron. Departing guests are frequently driven to the aircraft by limousine. US gateways offer priority check-in and Star Alliance First lounge access, and Zurich connections are engineered to be short — often under an hour — without feeling rushed.
