Fare Index FAQs
Where do these First Class fare numbers come from?
From our own fare desk: the published figure is a representative low for the route at normal advance booking on the airline's public channels, and the negotiated figure is the 'from' level our specialists have recently quoted through contract and consolidator agreements on the same routes. Figures are rounded, sampled monthly, and refreshed with each index update.
Why are negotiated First Class fares so much cheaper?
Airlines discount their flagship cabins privately rather than publicly. Capacity-controlled contract and consolidator fares are released to accredited specialist agencies so premium seats fill without visible discounting. The ticket is issued by the airline with a verifiable confirmation code, only the sales channel and price differ from booking direct.
Can I book at exactly the negotiated fare shown?
Treat each negotiated figure as the entry point of a band, not a guaranteed price. Negotiated inventory is capacity-controlled and moves daily with cabin load, season, and routing. Flexible dates usually reach the bottom of the band; peak weeks price above it. A live quote for your exact dates takes one call and carries no obligation.
Which US route has the cheapest First Class right now?
In this month's index, New York to London is the cheapest international First Class corridor from the US, with negotiated fares from about $5,500 round trip, roughly half the published level, followed by New York to Milan on Emirates' fifth-freedom flight and Boston to Zurich on SWISS. Transatlantic competition keeps the East Coast gateways consistently cheapest.
